What We Believe

The Biblical Platform of Community Baptist

I. We are Fundamental.

We believe in the Historic Fundamentals of “the Faith” (Jude 3).

This we believe:

1. The verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture. II Peter 1:20,21; II Timothy 3:16
2. The Tri-unity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14
3. The virgin birth and deity of Christ. Isaiah 7:14; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:15-19
4. The sinfulness of man and his need of salvation. Romans 3:10-19,23; 6:23
5. The redemptive work of Christ: His efficacious blood, His death, His burial and resurrection. Isaiah 53:5,6; Ephesians 1:7; I Corinthians 15:3,4; II Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 9:12,22
6. The Second Coming of Christ: The pre-tribulation rapture of the church and the pre-millennial return of Christ. Acts 1:11, I Thessalonians 4:13-17; Titus 2:13; Revelation 20:4,5
7. The eternal salvation of the believer. John 3:16,36; 10:27-29; Romans 8:35-39
8. The responsibility of the local church to promote and protect the doctrinal purity of the body of Christ. Acts 20:28-31; Romans 16:17; II Corinthians 6:14-7:1, Jude 3

II. We are Baptistic.

We believe in the Historical Principles that distinguish Biblical
Baptists from other denominations.

B-orn Again Membership - Acts 2:41-47
A-uthority of Scripture - II Timothy 3:16-17
P-riesthood of believers - Rev. 1:5-6
T-wo Offices (Pastor and Deacon) - Phil.1:1
I-ndependence of the Local Church - I Tim. 3:15
S-eparation of Church and State - Matt. 22:21
T-wo Ordinances (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper) - Acts 2:41-42
S-ecurity of the Believer - Rom. 8:35-39

III. We are Evangelistic

We believe our ministry is to obey the three-fold commission of our
Lord in Matt. 28:19-20.

A. To Evangelize - “Go and make disciples of all nations…”
B. To Enlist in the local church - “Baptizing them…”
C. To Educate in the Word of God - “Teaching them to observe all…”

IV. We are a Separated Church.

We believe that the Biblical instruction is to be separated from apostasy (II Cor. 6:14-7:1) and brethren that walk disorderly (II Thess.3:14,15) and to be separated unto the God of the Bible (I Peter 1:15,16) and brethren that walk orderly (II Thess. 3:7).

V. We are Non-Charismatic

We believe in the Third Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit and are grateful for His blessed ministry in our lives. However, we reject the teaching that the sign gifts (tongues, healing, interpretation, miracles) are for today and believe they are temporary. When the 12 apostles died these gifts were no longer needed (the Bible was finished) and so “ceased,” having fulfilled their God-appointed purpose of authenticating the apostolic message (II Cor.12:12; I Cor.13:8-10; 14:22; Heb.2:3,4). No gift is a mark of salvation or spirituality.

VI. We are Premillenial,, Pre-Tribulationalists

We believe that Christ will return to this earth before the millennium and before the 7 year tribulation period begins. (Rev.19:11-16; 20:1-7; 4:1; 3:10; I Thess. 4:15-5:9). His Second Coming will actually be in two phases: first, He will return for His saints (the Rapture) and then with them to set up His earthly kingdom (the Revelation). Thus there will be two separate resurrections (Rev.20:11-15); I Cor.3:13-15). We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust (John 5:29), the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost (Rev.20:10, 15; 21:1-8).
